We all know that the European standard Euro 6 was implemented in September 2015 in order to lower emissions and regulate the levels of Nitrogen Oxide, Carbon Monoxide, hydrocarbons and particulate matter that is generated from van and car exhaust emissions. This is an issue that Catalytic Support Systems Ltd. feels passionately about, as it is promoting sustainability and helping to save our planet.

Euro 6 states that petrol emissions should comply to:

  • CO – 1.0 g/km
  • HC – 0.10 g/km
  • NOx – 0.06 g/km
  • PM – 0.005 g/km (direct injection only)
  • PM – 6.0×10 ^11/km (direct injection only)

… and that diesel emissions should comply with:

  • CO – 0.50 g/km
  • HC + NOx – 0.17 g/km
  • NOx – 0.08 g/km
  • PM – 0.005 g/km
  • PM – 6.0×10 ^11/km

It also states that heavy-duty C1 vehicles should comply to:

  • CO – 1.5 g/kWh
  • HC – 0.13 g/kWh
  • NOx – 0.40 g/kWh
  • PM – 0.01 g/kWh
  • PN – 8.0×1011 1/kWh

Although Euro 6 requires all new cars, vans and trucks produced after September 2015 to meet these regulations, it will also be possible, if wanted, to retrofit vehicles produced before this date to also comply with the Euro 6 standards.

Catalytic Support Systems have multiple products available to meet these requirements, which have all proved to be a great success.
